In 1956, it was launched the periodical magazine entitled Cadernos de Teatro (Theatre Notebooks), whose director was Maria Clara Machado, editors Julia Pena da Rocha, Rubens Correa, Sonia Cavalcanti, Vera Pedrosa. Eddy Rezende in treasury and Anna Letycia responsible for desing. The first publications had the support of the Brazilian Institute of Education, Science and Culture, connected to UNESCO. The purpose of the Cadernos de Teatro has always been to provide information relating to arts throughout Brazil, providing theoretical material for small groups and amateur actors beginners, especially those who were far from the capitals.


Throughout all these years of publication, with more than 150 numbers, The Cadernos de Teatro has counted with great contributions, many important sponsors and editors. Virginia Valli, Bernardo Jablonski, Lionel Fischer and Ricardo Kosovski are noteworthy for having contributed to this important cultural project for a long period.
